Scott's Story

        Scott Hales, son, brother, husband and father of 8 was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia  on Feb. 20, 2018.  After completing his chemo treatments at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City preparations for a stem cell transplant were put in place.  The cells were donated by his older brother Steve and the transplant was performed on Sept. 13.  Things seemed to be going well with a few bumps along the way.  Finally he was released to stay at the Hope Lodge in Salt Lake City.  After just a few days there, adverse effects began to present themselves.  Scott was readmitted to the hospital on Nov.  1.  He fought hard and was a valiant warrior, but it just wasn’t meant to be.  He wasn't able to fight off the infections and left us on Nov. 10, 2018.

        Scott was always interested in working on old cars, and developed a fondness for mustangs.  He and his sons, worked a lot of hours putting his 1995 mustang together.  Scott had a bucket list and at the top was his desire to race his mustang at the Rocky Mountain Raceway.   So, the day before he was scheduled for his transplant, Scott, his sons and his dad went to the race track and Scott fulfilled a dream he had had for a long time.  He made the run in 17.393 @ 75.32 mph.  Not that great a time but he was excited and so glad he got to race his mustang.

        Also on his list was to put on a car show for the Relay for Life.  His sister, Loriann has been battling breast cancer for 19 years and he wanted to get involved for himself and his sister.  That is how the "SCOTT HALES MEMORIAL RELAY FOR LIFE CAR SHOW" came to be.  As his family, we have tried our best to put on the show that Scott would have done and we appreciate everyone that has worked so hard to bring it to a reality.
